We continue our Cohort 1 film series with Engineering Hydrogen Net Zero CDT researcher Mojgan, who is investigating how to reduce the high cost of maintaining offshore wind turbines, including innovative offshore turbines like the floating X-Rotor.
Operations and Maintenance (O&M) can account for nearly 30% of offshore wind costs, driven by harsh marine conditions and limited access.
Mojgan’s research at the University of Strathclyde focuses on modelling these costs by analysing failure rates, vessel logistics, and technician requirements across global offshore sites.
Her work is helping to build smarter cost models that reduce uncertainty and support faster deployment of clean energy technologies.
