Soorya Dananjaya Bandara Kulathunga Kulathunga Mudiyansele, one of EnerHy’s inaugural cohort of researchers, has been accepted to present at the Royce National PhD Conference 2026. He will speak under the Electrochemical Systems theme of the Royce Institute, focused on delivering substantial advances in efficient energy storage, new energy vectors, and chemical synthesis through novel electrochemical devices and systems.
Based at Cranfield University, Soorya is developing innovative approaches to produce green hydrogen directly from seawater. His conference presentation will share his EPSRC-funded EnerHy research aimed at making the process more efficient, durable, and cost‑effective, key steps toward scalable and sustainable green hydrogen production.
The Royce National PhD Conference brings together PhD researchers from across the UK materials science community to provide a supportive forum for researchers to share ideas, early progress, and challenges with the wider community. It takes place on 08–09 April 2026 at The University of Manchester, featuring talks from leading academics and industry experts, workshops, and discussions spanning the breadth of materials science and innovation.
The Royce Institute supports world‑recognised excellence in UK materials research, accelerating the commercial exploitation of innovations and delivering positive economic and societal impact for the UK.
In addition to Soorya, the following research students from Cohorts 1 and 2 will attend the Royce PhD Conference: Seif Alwahsh, Joseph Clack, Ayush Rao, Steffi Shaji, Jubil Thomas and Jiaqi Wang.
Many congratulations to Soorya on being selected to present – we hope you enjoy the experience.
