EnerHy is pleased to celebrate a major milestone at our research partner Cranfield University, as construction progresses on the new Hydrogen Integration Research Centre (HIRC). The steel framework is now in place, marking a significant step forward in the development of this cutting-edge facility.
Led by Professor Upul Wijayantha, Cranfield’s EnerHy lead, HIRC will house advanced laboratories and innovation spaces dedicated to hydrogen technology demonstration and integration. It forms a key part of the Cranfield Hydrogen Integration Incubator (Ch2i), and will be open for research projects from early 2026.
The centre was commemorated with a beam-signing ceremony attended by Professor Dame Helen Atkinson DBE, FREng, alongside colleagues and contractors R G Carter.
Cranfield’s investment in HIRC directly supports EnerHy’s mission to accelerate interdisciplinary hydrogen research and innovation across the UK. Many congratulations to Upul and the Cranfield team on this exciting achievement, we look forward to the collaborative opportunities this facility will enable.
